The study investigated the use of laptop in classrooms of higher institutions within Nigeria and its effects on teaching and learning. The population of the study comprises Ninety (90) university students and thirty (30) university lecturers spread across two (2) local government areas in Ondo state. The subjects responded to a 15- and 17- item questionnaire on their utilization of laptops in classroom, level of proficiency in the use of laptop, attitude to the use of laptop, and the effects of its use on teaching and learning. T- test was used to test the hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance and simple percentage was used to analyze the data for answering the research questions. The result of the study showed that most of the students and lecturers are proficient in the use of laptop, laptop use in classroom is relevant and have positive effect on teaching and learning if used appropriately, and that there are no adequate facilities and infrastructure to enhance the use of laptop in classrooms. Based on these findings, this research recommended that teachers and students at all levels should be prepared in the training of computer, the school administrators should look into the limitations of usage of laptops in classrooms and implement effective ways to maximize its use and finally, government should play their parts in providing adequate facilities and infrastructure to enhance the use of laptop in classrooms.
