THE USE OF SCAFFOLDED INSTRUCTION IN ENHANCING THE TEACHING AND LEARNING OF CHEMISTRY IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN ONDO WEST LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, ONDO STATE

ABSTRACT

Several studies have focused on the different method of teaching and learning chemistry with the aim of improving the performance of students in Senior Secondary Schools Certificate Examinations. In spite of these methods, the general poor performance of students in these examinations is still alarming. Thus, this study was carried out to investigate the use of scaffolded instruction in enhancing the teaching and learning of chemistry in Senior Secondary Schools. Data were collected by means of questionnaire and analyzed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) and t-test. The result showed that scaffolded instruction can be used to enhance the teaching and learning of chemistry.
