Abstract: Mathematics instruction is among the most explored research area in education. There have been considerably varied computer applications in the field of Mathematics. This paper is an investigation into Application of Computer Software Program in Solving Mathematical Problems (CSPSMP) with in-depth consideration of its challenges and possible panacea towards enhancing mathematical problem solving. An experimental research was used for the study. The sample for the study comprised quadratic equation and system of linear equations. The data collected from the manual method and the developed computer software programs were analyzed by using the Chi-square statistical method. The x2-calculated value of 0.01137 was obtained which is less than the x2-critical value of 3.84 at 0.05 alpha level, hence the hypothesis is retained/accepted. The study revealed that the computer software program is an improved method of solving mathematical problems. Based on the findings of the study, the researcher made some recommendations as possible panacea towards the challenges identified which can lead to positive attitude of mathematicians towards the use of computer software program in solving mathematical problems.
