Numerical methods for solving a class of unconstrained optimization problems.

Abstract: This paper deals with optimization methods as applied to everyday life activities. It centres mainly on numerical methods used in solving unconstrained optimization problems, by applying Conjugate Gradient Methods (CGM) and Steepest Descent Method, with the purpose of finding out how effective the performance of each of these methods to certain test problems by considering their iteration of convergence and minimum value at the point of convergence, and determining the most appropriate method of solving such a class of unconstrained optimization problems.
