THE ROLES OF MATHEMATICS CURRICULUM IN THE RESOLUTION OF RELIGION CRISES IN NIGERIA

Abstract: Conflict is a great predicament in any human society, and most times, it is predictable. In fact, history indicates that conflict is an on-going process in human relations and may occur within and among groups and communities at anytime. This project focuses on the roles of mathematics curriculum in the resolution of religions crises in Nigeria. Many authors, government institutions and non-governmental agencies have sought for lasting solution to these crises but have come up with little or no success. This study therefore gives an overview of the general concept and causes of religious conflicts in Nigeria and, advocates for ethical principles such as the common solidarity of humanity by origin, forgiveness and tolerance that could engender cordiality and understanding rather than sustained hostility and suspicion in Christian-Muslim relation in this direction. 200 random sampled responses were taken from three states of the federation.___ Oyo, Osun and Ondo States. A well structured questionnaire was used to collect data as regards the roles of mathematics curriculum in the resolution of religious crises in Nigeria. The research work was analysed using chi-square statistical method at the significance level of 0.05. The findings strongly support that mathematics curriculum has a good roles to play in the resolution of religious crises in Nigeria. Recommendations were made for every religious leaders and government to be mathematically oriented in handling such issues.
